This article address some of the bureaucracy around being a visiting journalist in Israel, an Israeli temporary press card, and the qualifications to obtain an Israeli part-time press worker card. \u00a0If the type of press card you are interested in is not listed here, see our other article addressing other types of press cards in Israel<\/a>. A visiting journalist in Israel can obtain a press card for a maximum of four months at a time. \u00a0The same is true for the duration of an Israeli temporary press card.<\/span><\/p>\n

While this article addresses various types of press cards, if you are interested in going directly to the press card application, you can find it on the <\/span>Israeli Government Press Office website<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0These press cards <\/span>do not <\/span><\/i>automatically renew, and thus applications must be resubmitted if you need to work beyond the initial period of time granted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Press Card for a Visiting Journalist in Israel <\/b><\/h4>\n

A visiting journalist in Israel can apply for a press card so long as they are not an Israeli resident or citizen and are 18+ years old. The visiting journalist must either be employed full time by the state as a journalist, press technician or media assistant or<\/em> work in one of these roles, and it must be their primary area of work as a media employee or freelancer. \u00a0The visiting journalist in Israel can obtain a press card for less than a year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Israeli Temporary Press Card<\/b><\/h4>\n

An Israeli temporary press card can be issued by the Israeli Government Press Office to an Israeli resident or citizen who is 18 years or older. \u00a0It can be issued to those who are employed full time by Israeli or local media. The person can work for a periodical or be an Israeli journalist, press technician or media assistant, and it is possible to apply as a freelancer whose primary area of work is in the news media. \u00a0The press card is temporary in that the person intends to be employed for less than a year in the position or they are in their first year of employment with the media outlet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Israeli Part-Time Press Worker Card<\/b><\/h4>\n

An Israeli part-time press worker card is available to Israeli citizens or residents who are 18+ years old and who are employed part-time by the media or for a periodical, and this is not the primary area of work for the applicant. \u00a0The applicant must have worked full time or part time in the position for at least a year prior to applying for the part-time press worker card, with the understanding he or she will continue in the position part time for the time being.<\/span><\/p>\n
